What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Analytics
We collect anonymous statistics about your visit to our website, like which of our pages you viewed. We never share your data with 3rd parties except to help us deliver our own services.
We measure visitors to our website and products using Google Analytics. This service records what pages you view within our site, how you arrived at our site and some basic information about your computer.
We anonymise the data in Google Analytics – so we don’t know who you are; just that somebody visited our site.
The information we collect helps us understand what parts of our site are doing well, how people arrive at our site and so on. Like most websites, we use this information to make our website better.
You can learn more about Google Analytics or opt out if you wish. Google Analytics data is automatically deleted 26 months after your last visit.
Security
Wordfence (Privacy Policy) is used to secure this site against potential hackers. Any attempt to login, compromise the site or other malicious behavior will result in Wordfence processing your IP address, request time, referrer (when available) and browser user-agent string on their servers to protect this site and other sites that report the same attack signatures. Attack data is stored for 1 – 2 days from the last attempt.
Cookies
We have security measures in place that set cookies for site administrators and users that login to the Content Management System (CMS). By logging in to the CMS you consent to the use of these cookies. CMS access is not possible without these cookies.
The authorization cookie allows the Wordfence firewall to detect logged in users and allow them increased access. It also allows Wordfence to detect non-logged in users and restrict their access to secure areas. This cookie also lets the firewall know what level of access a visitor has to help the firewall make smart decisions about who to allow and who to block.
The login alert cookie is set for only Content Management and Security System administrators. This cookie is used to notify security admin when an administrator logs in from a new device or location. This cookie helps site owners know whether there has been an admin login from a new device or location.
Contact Forms
If you fill out a contact form we will store that information in a database for up to 30 days before it expires. Your contact for submission is sent to an email address for communication.
Who we share your data with
We will not share your data unless we receive your consent to do so or we are obliged to keep share for legal or security purposes.
How long we retain your data
If you opt in, Google Analytics data is stored for 26 months before being deleted. If you are attempting to compromise this site your data will be collected for a few days to stop any further abuse. If abuse continues this may increase to 90 days.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
Analytics data is stored within Google Analytics if you opt-in. For security purposes, Wordfence will store data about you if you take malicious action against this site.
